The best way to decide whether or not you would make a good manager, is to look at the skills you would need and to see how you use them now.
You could also talk to the people around you, especially your line manager and other senior managers. You could ask them questions such as: - Do they think that you have the potential to make the grade of manager? - What skills do they think make a good manager? - Which of these skills do they recognise that you already have? - Which skills do you need to build on? Is formal training available to enable you to do this or would further experience in specific areas help you to gain those skills?
It is important to realise that whatever feedback you receive, it is not automatic that you can be a good manager. You need to recognise that there are management skills that you already have which you have acquired naturally, and others that you have had to work on. However, whatever skills you have, you need to continue to develop them in order to become, and remain, successful. It is likely that as you progress through management, you will continually need to add to your skills.
